Holiday pay for contractors!

In a great piece of news for freelance employees, the European Court has ruled that UK freelance workers are entitled to 4 weeks holiday pay.

You previously were required to work for at least 13 weeks before you could claim any holiday entitlement.

The European Court has now decided that Britain has contravened EU law and will have to give freelance and short term contract workers their holidays.

This will thus have a direct effect on many contractors who are on short contracts, as they will now be entitled to one of the so called 'benefits of going permanent', which is holidays.

The government will now have to amend the law to fall within the EU legislation which came into effect in 1993!!
