Contractors are being taken to task by the Treasury about the travel expenses they can claim when contracting through umbrella companies. There’s even a full-blown Treasury consultation on the subject.

At a recent meeting of contractor organisations it was suggested that the Treasury is seeking to fill the large hole in the UK’s finances, and contractors working through umbrella companies are a soft target to aim for.

What would you do if you couldn’t claim travel expenses through your umbrella company?

Just emigrate 3 years earlier than planned then they won't get any tax from me at all, blood sucking leeches. They'd do better trying to cut the paper shuffling dross out of the public sector.
