Have Your Say: Has your agency ever helped with your contracting?

Contractors Handbook

Agents and contractors often don't get along. But there are times when an agency can help with your contracting. Has that ever happened to you?

Agencies do sometimes give good advice about how to handle a particular client, or perhaps simply with suggestions about how to behave in a certain interview.

Agencies are less keen nowadays--because of risks created by the managed service company legislation--to recommend an accountant or a lawyer to you. But some of them have evaluated the risk and aren't afraid to do so.

So has your agency helped you with a recommendation, or with some good advice? Tell us about it.

Give me a break! Agents only do what's best for themselves.

The majority of Agencies aren't even aware of the new IR56 legislation, and some are still confused when asked about IR35.

They seem to take the line of "say whatever you can to close the deal" in all their work. I wouldn't trust their advice on anything, and only use them when I absolutely have to.

We would be better off without them. They help themselves. Don't trust a single word they say.
