IR35 insurance for £100 - join the FSB

The Inland Revenue are trying very hard to convince all us IT contractors that we are NOT self employed and that we will be investigated within the next 5 years and face a huge tax bill.

Well, that isn't really the case for the majority of us (according to case law). Also, it has been estimated it will take 2000 new IR investigators to investigate all the small business at least once every 5 years.

I've just signed on the dotted line with the Federation of Small Businesses (www.fsb.org.uk).

They are a non profit making organisation with 160,000 members. In addition to many benefits they provide, they insure members accounting costs should they have a tax investigation, including challenges to self employment.

It costs £100 a year.

If you would like to join, they phone Ted Wigzell on 07801 924 208.

[Please do me a favour and mention this site if you join - he said he would buy me a few beers if many of you join. Thanks!]
