Finding and Applying For Contract Positions

This is step 4 of our guide Contracting in the UK.

The contractors who get the contracts are the best at knowing how to get the contracts, and not necessarily the best for the contracts. You will need to learn how to find a contract and get very good at it.

Making applications via email is the common method for applying for contracts. However, you will still need to chase the position by phoning the agent.

It is advantageous to use agents to help you find a contract. You’ll find one quicker, and it they cost nothing until a contract is secured.

Don’t underestimate the importance of a professional sales approach when going contracting. This will minimise gaps between contracts, ensure you negotiate the best rates, and keep you ahead of the rest of the pack in periods of low market demand.

For more information see our dedicated Contract Search section.

After you have managed to secure an interview you should learn the successful ways that contractors pass interviews.
