London, Tuesday 24th May 2011 – ContractorCalculator has become the first leading contracting website in the UK to launch an iPhone app that has been carefully designed, developed and tested to help contractors manage their careers on the go. Available free from Apple’s App Store and iTunes from 24th May 2011, the new app gives contractors instant access to the latest news, guides and blogs, providing them with essential up-to-the-minute contracting information on demand and wherever they are.

“It makes perfect sense to make the UK’s leading contracting website available in a mobile app to better meet contractors’ needs,” says ContractorCalculator CEO Dave Chaplin. “The number of UK iPhone users is estimated at 6.4m, and a great many of those iPhones are owned by tech-savvy contractors who are increasingly using mobile as their principal online access.”
The app is the latest in a long line of ContractorCalculator ‘firsts’. It has been under development for several months, with the development team conducting thorough and ongoing user and functionality research to ensure the app best meets contractors’ needs. “Version 1.0 will provide contractors with the latest news items, guides and blogs, which will be updated live as new content is published,” explains Chaplin. “Future versions, for which we are already undertaking pre-development research, will be based on maximising the advantages of the mobile channel that smartphones can provide for our readers.”

ContractorCalculator has developed the new iPhone app in partnership with game design, production and consultancy company Spilt Milk Studios.
