Dear Contractor,
Welcome to the December 2008 edition of our Contractor Newsletter. The Pre-Budget was good for contractors, with the Revenue not deciding to hammer the flexible labour market during times of recession - the attacks on travel expenses and income shifting being kept on hold for the time being. This month our features focus on travel expenses and the 24 month rule, and also explain the legal details when you sign a contract that contains terms you hadn't actually agreed. The market hasn't entirely collapsed according to the stats, but it's safe to say if you're in a contract then your bargaining position at renewal time will be somewhat weakened. Let's hold onto our hats and cross fingers for a nice tail wind in the New Year. Seasonings greetings to all our readers.
