Welcome to the January 2008 edition of our Contractor NewsCast. A busy end to 2007 saw the Government protect contractors by fighting off the European Agency Workers Directive which would enforce employment rights for contractors. But they also announce new taxes for contractors who share dividends with their partners – the Income Shifting Legislation – due to go live in April 2008. Still, demand for contractors in 2008 is expected to remain steady.
